Status of Union Territories

Status of Union Territories: There are some units of the Indian Union which enjoy very little power. These are areas which are too small to become an independent state, but which could not be merged with any of the existing states.A union territory is a type of administrative division in the Republic of India,Unlike the states of India, which have their own governments, union territories are federal territories governed, in part or in whole, by the Central Government of India.

Union Territories  are 8 in numbers ;-

  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
  • Chandigarh
  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu
  • National Capital Territory of Delhi
  • Jammu and Kashmir,
